Our studies typically include clinical and research interviews, open-ended interviews about your life experiences, experimental tasks (e.g., simple computer games), and/or surveys about your daily life administered through a smartphone. Some of our studies can be done virtually, but most will require at least one visit to our lab space in the Michigan State University Psychology Department (East Lansing, MI). All participants are compensated for their time, including travel expenses.

We are currently recruiting participants for the following studies

Multimethod Assessment of Action Perceptions

We are currently recruiting: (a) individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, or schizophreniform disorder; or (b) individuals with no history of mental health problems to participate in a research study on perception and personal life experiences.

The goal of our study is to understand how people with schizophrenia and related conditions perceive things around them, and how this might affect their daily experiences. Through this work, we hope to understand more about what causes these illnesses, so that we can find better options for treatment and care.

As a participant, you will complete:

  • an interview about your mental health (over the phone or video chat)

  • an in-person visit to Michigan State University’s Psychology Department for a research interview and computer tasks that measure visual and auditory perception. In total, the entire study will take around 4 hours to complete.

To be eligible, you must be:

  • between 18-60 years of age and EITHER

  • (a) have been diagnosed and/or treated for schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, or schizophreniform disorder

    OR

  • (b) have no history of mental health problems.

You will be paid $20/hour for your time, plus transportation costs.
